I'm a tummy sleeper as well. 1st thing you should do is call and ask your surgeon or his nurse. With that said, my first night post op I laid on my side. I did that a few nights. I'm thinking it was a week out for me. Typically our bodies won't allow us to do something that hurts. One morning I remember waking up and I was on my tummy. From there I was fine. I didn't ask, I just went with what my body did naturally. Good luck with your journey☺

@@newnewme4 Wow, I sleep on my side and couldn't even manage that for a couple of weeks! I slept in a recliner chair for the first week and a bit because our bed is quite high (hip height on me and I struggled to climb on to it for a while). @@onmywaytobeingfound is right though ... check with your surgeon. And if he or she says it's ok, then good for you! If that's going to give you a decent night's sleep, it will help you heal faster.

I sleep on my side. But after surgery this was uncomfortable. I found it important to place a pillow between my legs when I sleep on my side after surgery.

If you can lie on your tummy without pain, do it.

I began sleeping on my stomach again as soon as it stopped hurting - maybe a week and a half or two out from surgery.

I couldn't for a long while. It was too painful, but I do now.

I awoke on my stomach in my room after surgery. Every time I went to sleep, I awoke on my stomach. No matter how I tried to stay propped up on my back or on my side I'd roll over add soon as I feel asleep.

I had no pain whatsoever even waking face down propped in a "seated" posture. My surgeon was fine with this. Given no pain and my wounds healed quickly it was not an issue.

Have you tried using a body pillow to prop you on your side? I am a total tummy sleeper as well, but when I was pregnant my doctors always kept reminding me not to sleep on my stomachZ the only way I could manage to not fully sleep on my stomach even at the end was to use a body pillow and roll into it for support. It worked though. I actually plan on taking my body pillow with me to the hospital when I have surgery for the extra support and comfort.

I;m also a tummy sleeper when I was in the hospital I asked my doctor if it would be ok... he said I could sleep however I wanted and it wouldnt hurt or damage anything... However I tried that my first night home and the pain was unbearable... I'm two weeks out and I can do it now finally! IF it doesnt hurt you... GO FOR IT. if it does.... sleep on ur side with a bunch of pillows in front of you so if you roll they comfort you.

Buy a body pillow, or tuck one on your side.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
