So I've been REALLY putting in a good fight to lose weight going into surgery and to change my old habits NOW so that it's not so foreign afterwards. In June, I could barely walk across my house without having to sit down. 2 weeks ago, I nearly died going around the block and yesterday, I walked 2 miles! Seriously my heart was pounding out of my chest and I was coughing like a 50yr smoker when I got home(if home counts as the front lawn and my fat ass laying on it like a fish pulled out of a lake LOL), but I was so proud! I walked 2 miles!!!! At this rate I wonder if I can get to light jogging even before my surgery(I wish!)

So how does it feel to be so amazing ??? Thats so cool that you are putting in so much effort BEFORE surgery ! Thats a great way to start ! ( I did the same thing, I think I made all the difference ). Im confused though, it shows your surgery date as November 1999. When are you or did you have WLS ? Either way, good luck ! Keep up the good work !!!

Imagine being able to walk those two miles as if it were nothing at all! That is where you are headed! Great progress, and you are right, all of this will really help you adjust post-op. You have a wonderful sense of humor- that will also help.

1999 is the default date. I haven't had my surgery yet. Probably be Oct. :)

Thanks everyone! :) I was so proud of myself I wanted to scream it from the rafters(but all I could do was sign it for the first 20 mins LOL) today was a little better still a gasp and cough, but I was a little faster. My knees aren't too happy with me though. Tonight they basically screamed at me to not go for the night time walk. I took an Epsom salt soak instead and hope to get going again tomorrow morning.

Happy dance!! That is awesome!! And inspiring. I need to be doing the same thing but as long as it's over a hundred degrees, I'll keep procrastinating!!

Dreaming of a hot summer next year where going for a walk or even jog is no big deal because I'm not wearing a hundred+ pound coat!!

You go girl!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
