The one I really loved was being able to go on all the rides with my nephews when we went to Dollywood this spring! I'd gone there in spring of 2014 and could only fit on ONE of the roller coasters.

Seeing bones I haven't seen in a VERY long time. Also getting to be more selective about the clothes I buy. Before I would buy multiple colors of the same thing if it fit and I felt like it made me look okay. Now I have so many more options and don't feel the pressure to get it just because it fits on my body.

Just feeling normal. No longer being that uncomfortable combination of invisible (not seen as a woman) with being very noticable/stand out due to my morbid obesity. That was really a thing once i was over 300#. I love just taking it for granted that I am normal/medium/average. This applies to how I see myself, how clothes fit, the stores i can shop in, how others see me, how i fit into seats/booths - all elements of just feeling normal.

It is nice to blend in... Or stand out by your words and actions... Not by your size bringing attention. Great point many of us veterans take for granted

Thanks CGJane for defining that special something!

Getting up after being seated for an extended period of time and walking without pain. I still revel in this. I was so used to being in pain all the time that the lack of it is a marvel and definitely my top NSV.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
