I posted this on just the lapband forum and realized anyone dealing with this may not be a bander anymore. Any shared experience would be appreciated.

I had an egd done this past Tuesday. The doc told my husband that there's some erosion and will see me in his office on the 17th(I was still sleeping). My man didn't ask any questions. Have any of y'all experienced this? Do you know what I could expect? The Dr has mentioned conversion before when I started having problems.

I went to Mexico in 2005 to get the Lap Band, had many complications, went in for a EGD in 2011, doctor sent me straight over to the hospital to have it removed. Somehow the lap band twisted around stomach/ esophgus. More than likely you will have to have yours removed. I gained all my weight back and then some , yesterday had the Gastric Sleeve. ????

Oh no that's what I am afraid will happen with the sleeve is that I gain all the weight back cause in the 2000's the band was the new hot thing kinda like the sleeve now. Which is why I asked my surgeon for the RNY but he said that the sleeve is much safer I will be devastated if I go through all of this and gain it all back ????. Was supposed the get the ban in 2011 it was canceled last minute glad I didn't getting sleeved on Tuesday just can't stop thinking about the surgery not working. But it looks like a lot of people had good results with it on this site so I'm hoping for the same

afreshstart, I'm sorry for what you want through. I've heard great things about the sleeve. My sister is getting it this coming Monday. AngelaWilliamaMD, thank you so much. It's appreciated. Cdominguez, you'll do great. Our complications are from the band. The sleeve seems a much better choice.

One individual in our Bariatric Support Group Meeting had a revision because his band began to erode into his stomach. He had to have it removed. This condition is very dangerous. When it was gone he gained a significant amount of weight back. He had a RNY. Because of the scarring his pouch was a little smaller than most patients. This limited his food intake a little. He lost a lot of weight and was very pleased with the results. He said he would do it (the revision) again in a minute.

Thank you. It looks like that's where I'm headed, too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
