Hi eveyone. this is my first time to post could not fiqure it out the first time. But anyway just want to say hello. I have been banded since 03 and repaired in 05. I have since lost and regained about 30 - 50 lbs. My Dr was Bradley Needleman and had it done in Columbus Ohio. I moved from Lima to Akron last year and was not able to get in to see Dr Chylasta because of his steep price for taking someone else's patient. As things worked out, I got very sick one day and could not stop throwing up for 2 days, then I lost interest in trying to eat or drink much because of the naseau for 5 days. Went to the hospital and took test and finally called in the only band Dr here because most Dr's have no idea how the band works and he took out my fill about 2.5 cc's and agreed to see me in his office. I hope being in the same city as the dr and support groups maybe I will have some success. The bad thing is I won't be able to see him until six weeks after I have back surgery. So I won't see him until the 25th of August. Well thanks for listening... Lynda:help:

Hi Lynda, it sounds like you have your fair share of stuff going on. You've had your band for quite awhile, too. What kind of repair did you have?

All the best with your back surgery.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
