New protein source.

Recommended Posts

Today I found a new Protein source for myself because I'm getting so tired of shakes all the time. It's a protein Water called Protein-2-0 and I found it at the grocery store. Tastes much better than shakes and easier to drink.

Where in the grocery store did you find this? Was it by the soda, the Powerade and Gatorade?

#scarlet witch 19th Do you mix plain Protein powderived with the crystal light? How do you keep it from being lumpy?

I haven't had many issues with it getting lumpy. I use Now Sports whey Protein isolate and mix one scoop with 16oz and just shake it really well. I get the occasional clump of powder (yuck) but for the most part it mixes great and I don't even taste it. I've mixed it with other sugar free Fruit Drinks as well but lemonade is my favorite. :) it's also low calorie, like 110calories

Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of unnatural to have to rely so much on Protein supplements? I am starting to wonder about the long-term effects of this and all the artificial sweeteners in the sugar-free products they want us to use. What's the point of losing 100 pounds if I am going to die of cancer in 10 years from all the aspartame.

Sorry, rant over.

You can find Protein powders and supplements that don't have any artificial sweeteners in them. A lot of "health gurus" have touted the protein isolate for decades to supplement our western diets and they seem to all still be alive and kicking it, so I figure if they can do it, I can too. As far as all the other sugar free junk like puddings and drinks, I don't plan to do those any longer than I have to and even then it won't be aspartame because it gives me Migraines. I think my chances are better than doing nothing.

Looks like Amazon carries this product, how is the cost compared to what you paid? I'll look for it in the store.

Has anyone done research on price/taste of shakes vs powder. Or buying it from the dr.s office?

I'm three weeks pre op and need to start purchasing...how much should I have on hand? What else should I have on hand?

Hi Nibbler, I have a friend who had Sleeve surgery back in Dec (he has lost over 100 pounds already) and he taste-tested a bunch of Protein drinks and shakes, video reviews are on his blog http://cuttingthefatwithaknife.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html%C2'> He is also on here @@Stevehud

@@sparksrn I found it at the grocery store (Hy-Vee) and it was kinda spendy at $2.89 a bottle. The Amazon price is much better. I'll have to order it from them now I tried it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
