Katnipt 0 Posted August 6, 2015 Hello, all. I currently live in Ohio and have gone to a seminar at Ohio State University to learn more about my options for bariatric surgery. My insurance told me that I was eligible, so I started looking into it. It seems my insurance requires a 9-month physician supervised diet before I can do anything else. I have been dieting on my own since March, but that doesn't count toward my 9 months. I will be moving to the Spokane, Washington area next June and was wondering if anyone out there has any insight on doctors/facilities, etc. in the area that they would recommend for me to check out when I get settled in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Linda
jahemenway 40 Posted August 7, 2015 HI @@Katnipt - I too am moving back to WA from ND. I'll be in the Spokane area around the same time as you. From what I know of people that had the surgery in Spokane, a majority of them go to Seattle to have it done. Its not too long of a drive and only 45 min plane ride. Good Luck - Julie
wwboy 141 Posted August 14, 2015 I'm working with Mathews Rawlins from the Rockwood clinic. He does about 300 of these surgeries per year and has been doing them since the early 2000's. Very down to earth and compassionate - and low complication rate. Have heard mixed ratings about the hospital floor but I feel very positive so far about my interactions with this doctor. We shall see -- I'm sure Portland and Seattle have solid options. I'm driving up to Spokane from Walla Walla so either of those others could've worked too. Spokane is the closest though and I think this guy is good. Clinic seems to have a very long term support oriented process too.
