Chelsdkunk5894 2 Posted August 6, 2015 So I am 7 weeks post op and doing a very bad job at getting my Protein in because I'm still scared of trying new things that might make me sick.. Any suggestions that is pouch friendly that I can try?
catwoman7 11,220 Posted August 6, 2015 I eat a piece or two of string cheese almost every day. Eight grams of Protein in a standard-size piece. Oddly, it was one of the few things I could tolerate when I had a stricture.
WinchSight 23 Posted August 6, 2015 I've been having a couple tablespoons of creamy Peanut Butter. About 8 grams of Protein.< /p>
James Marusek 5,244 Posted August 6, 2015 I found that soft foods such as chili and Soups went down much easier than hard foods such as steaks. I have included a couple recipes in the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf In the beginning most of your daily Protein comes from Protein supplements. It is imperative that you find a Protein shake that you can tolerate. So experimentation is a must here. Later as you derive more and more protein from your meals, you can decrease your dependency on Protein shakes. Also soon you should be able to tolerate another form of protein supplements called Protein Bars. I use Quest Protein Bars especially when I am on the go. Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 6, 2015 Cottage cheese has excellent Protein and should be well tolerated. Use 1 percent. Also ricotta cheese bake is excellent. I was also using Quest bars at your stage.
Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 6, 2015 I also think that there is no way you will find out if something is going to be alright until you try it. Just go slowly and try one new food at a time. You will have to sooner or later.
