gomezk2 24 Posted August 5, 2015 Almost 3 months post op and i am having sugar cravings. I desire to eat sweets which is something i thought it would sorta be fading away after the sleeve. Has anyone gone thru this or can chime in and share their experience?
lmhelmick 79 Posted August 5, 2015 I think everyone goes through this... find a way to satisfy your craving with something small. I made home made Reese cups with Sugar Free Chocolate and PB2
joatsaint 2,814 Posted August 5, 2015 I get sugar cravings on occasion, mainly after eating a high Protein, very low carb meal. I try to satisfy that craving by eating more Protein, but it doesn't always work. If I have to have something sweet, I reach for something like a Quest bar or Oh Yeah Victroy bar. They both come in sweet flavors like: chocolate chip cookie dough, Cookies and cream, and a variety of fruit flavors. They are all high protein and "supposedly" low carb, the carbs mainly coming from a Prebiotic Fiber that isn't supposed to be digestible. After eating dozens of both brands, I do know that: 1) Both brands satisfy my sweet tooth 2) Both brands do not cause my head hunger to flare up the way eating real sugar does. 3) Both brands do not seem to effect my ability to lose or maintain my weight. Hope this helps.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted August 5, 2015 For me, if I want something sweet, fresh fruit, yogurt, Protein Shakes, Protein Bars, etc. are good options.
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted August 7, 2015 Get your Vitamin D checked. Having a low Vit. D can cause sugar cravings. Also keep your carbs low. If you keep them under 30 per day, you won't have nearly the cravings. It takes a few days to de carb but by the 4th day, cravings should lessen a lot. jcapril15 0 Posted August 7, 2015 I have found that a drink of squash after my my meal helps with the sugar craving.
alindsey 230 Posted August 7, 2015 Stop all artificial and sugar free products you'll stop craving. Every 3-4 days I allow myself high carb days I eat agave and honey treats and tons of fruit. I have zero sweet cravings once I stopped artificial sugars.
