Can it really be this easy?

Glad your recovery was easy! I had a fairly easy recovery, too, and like you wasn't nervous about the surgery beforehand! Other than being tired/lethargic a lot, feeling good.

My surgery/recovery has been easy also. Almost to the point I feel guilty even talking about it because so many people are miserable.

I wasn't sure about how small my stomach was until I really started trying to eat food. Not being able to finish one scrambled egg was very sobering. Unable to finish even one crab cake. Full off 3oz of swai. That has helped make it real.

Trying to remember to take all the supplements and take them apart from each other is really challenging.

The weight isn't dropping off like I expected but hopefully that starts changing next week.

We need more threads like this so people can see there is a chance for a positive outcome.

I feel the same. I am two weeks out now and apart from the first 3 days, I have been able to get in all my Water and Protein. I use MyFitnessPal every day and today my protein was 110, carbs 16 and calories 510. I had my first pureed meal tonight, 2oz of chicken with no issues whatsoever. Only moan is about the injections I had to do twice a day at home. I hated doing them but in the scheme of things it was nothing! :D

@ Hi Kate, how are you getting in all the protein with such few calories??? I also had no issues after surgery and am two weeks out but I have to do 3 or 4 shakes a day to get my protein and I think the calories and volume is too much. Help!

Omg I'm not the only one!! Recovery has been amazing and so easy I started to think the dr left 70% and only removed 30%. The only thing I do find hard is getting in all my Proteins and liquid but trying. I've even started working out sooner then I was "meant to" because I feel so good.

My only complaint now is I think I hit my stall before the "average" and quite frustrated. Only 2 weeks post op today and I only lost 2lbs (13.3 the first week). My clothes feel better if they aren't falling off but I'm mad at the scale. Anyone else stall this early?

yes! Same for me. I lost 16 before surgery and the first week nut have lost nothing week two. Also constipated. Anyone else?

@@sallydswanson The Constipation is an ongoing problem for me, as well. I have to take stool softeners every day. I think that's from having only Protein, since there is no room for enough veggies to make things move. I am 4 months out.

Hiya Sally, That day it was:

Breakfast : Optimun nutrition chocolate shake 120 calories

Mid morning: Syntrax Nector 100 calories

Lunch: Optimun nutrition chocolate shake 120 calories

Dinner: 2 oz chicken breast grilled with a tiny amount of chicken stock 78 calories

Snack: Syntrax Nector 100 calories

In between all day, Water.

Protein 110 and calories 518 (sorry said 510 in the original post due to poor lighting and not being able to read my phone as I am blind a bat lol)

Today I have only had 2 shakes and will have one syntrax nectar later as I am trying to increase my food and decrease Protein drinks. I had two medium brown eggs scrambled this morning for Breakfast, a Protein Drink for lunch and tonight its chicken (2oz) and an 1/8 of a cup of veg if I can get through the chicken. My stomach is tiny!! I was shocked after a few days, that I could get so much liquid down and thought the surgeon hadn't taken away enough of my stomach. NOW I know he has lol ;)

My recovery was a breeze. I was feeling so good, I went back to work on day 4! It's been two weeks and I'm still going strong. Tomorrow I check in with my surgeon and the nutritionist. Totally looking forward to explore soft foods and get to chewing soon.

Happy that I'm in good company. Keep up the great work!!

i agree

Dr. Phil ;) - "no matter how flat you make a pancake, it always has 2 sides"

you do frequently see posts saying no problems with surgery, recovery, etc

there are some posts that tell of problems with surgery/recovery

good and bad stories

unfortunately, the bad stories stick out/remembered in newbies et al minds

i "think" .01% WLS patients have bad results (not sure of that stat)

these positive threads are great for newbies and others to see

my pre, post op, surgery, recovery etc went wonderful :)

I am 3 weeks post op too and I didn't have a bad experience the only thing is that I can't hold down my multi Vitamin but anything else is find they are replacing the multi vitamin with the ensure supplement drink which I can tolerate well... And as for the guilt there is none and it's because of the fact that everyone body is different. I am grateful for this surgery and the people who are supporting me through this journey... And as for the people that regretted the surgery at one point I know they don't feel that way know it was something that was in the moment because of the situation they were in.. Well I wish you good luck on your journey and when you do hit stalls do not get discouraged you body is just taking a break just give it time to catch up on all the amazing progress you are doing ????

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

    • buildabetteranna

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
