hi everyone,

i have a question or two. i just moved to wilmington, nc from memphis, tn and i spoked to the weight lost doctor nurse today and she told me that when i attend the seminar(july 10) that i can schedule and appointment and things of that nature with the doctor for an consultation. but she said it all depends on how long it takes me to complete the packet and the test and that i would need a referral from my regular care doctor.

ok i don't have a regular pcp as i just moved here.. i do however have a women's appointment schedule for in august, will an ob-gyn referral be good enough or MUST it come from a pcp only!

thanks a lot

i know it's a long journey before you actually have the surgery, but i'm just curious..

thanks in advance

All programs differ in a few aspects, but I think this is one that does not. My insurance required a letter from my PCP only, not a specialist. Insurance companies want to see a weight history and general health history (lab results, if you have any problems with sleep apnea, diabetes, high cholesterol). These are things your OB/GYN usually does not follow. I would check with your insurance company. Good Luck!

hi and thanks for replying,

i talked to my new ob office today and they said that he is an "family doctor" as well and that the appointment that i will be having can also include a complete physical as well as an cbc.. so i'm hoping this will be a one stop thing, but to be on the safe side i will also be scheduling another appointment with another doctor later this month...

never hurts to have "too much"...

so thank you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
