My kids are in the same school district I was as a kid. I dread going to their school events because I know I will see countless people I went to school with. Whether I liked them, knew them, or not, I feel ashamed and embarrassed that I look the way I do. I can't wait until I no longer keep my eyes down to try to hide my face.

I want to be way more active! Paddle board, surf, hike, bike, yoga, softball...you name it! I want to really enjoy the rest of my life and get back to what is really important, spending time with family and friends (not eating or drinking) and having more energy and confidence in my work! I am very excited!

And a more mortifying confession...I stuff a sock in my under my belly to keep from getting sweaty and an infection. Ugh. It's out there! Since having my kids and 3 c sections I have a serious overhang. I call it my skin skirt. I don't know what will happen after surgery but it's gotta get a little better right???? For now though that sock has been my "skirt" and my best friend!

Oh, and speaking of the issue that correlates with my above post... I am so tired of being in a room full of people and noting two things.

1. I am the heaviest person in the room.

2. Every one else is freezing cold and I have sweat gathering in my armpits, around my butt, my "skirt", and between my boobs!

The neck thing was definitely exciting! Prior to have WLS, my neck was a Mama June (Honey Boo Boo's mom) in the making. What used to annoy me is that I would see people (friends, family and strangers) who were much larger than me yet their necks were smooth. It got to the point that i started wearing scarves and turtle necks in an attempt to hide my neck.

Now I show it off with dainty necklaces, statement pieces and whatever else.

It's been great. Sometimes you feel so alone and that nobody understands. And you don't share your struggles because they are embarrassing. This was great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
