I'll keep you in my prayers as well! I just got the call with my check in time- 7:15am. Surgery is at 10:15. You mentioned you work 12 hours- what type of work do you do? I'm a nurse. I work an 8 hour evening shift now and when I return, I'll be on 12 shifts when I return. I will be off 4 weeks, which will be good to help me get in a routine with exercise and my meals.

I'm a respiratory therapist. And my plan is to be off work 6 weeks because of the weight restriction. My surgey is scheduled for 10am and check in is at 8.

@@ABetterMe1210 because of the 20pd weight limit for the first 4 weeks, I'm not able to go back. How have you been doing since your surgery? Are you feeling ok to go back to work this soon? Do you sit at a desk or walk and stand on your job? Praying for a speedy recovery for you.

I sit at my desk, I do rounds when I want. I'm feeling pretty good, thank God, the only thing is my incisions are very itchy and I've been craving a lot of things I normally don't eat, smh! Other than that I'm ready to go back plus I've been walking a lot so that helped. Praying that everything work out for you, God Bless..

No problem @@Sonnie456 there are so many wonderful people on the page. I look at it to be a blessing to be able to reach out others who are going through the same thing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
