Talking to parents

Recommended Posts

I'm 14 and have struggled my entire life with my weight. I guess my only question for now is how did you tell or talk to your parents about getting this procedure?

You need to speak to your GP about this question.

sorry you have had weight problems ALL your life :(

i agree with @ that you must talk to your PCP first

i wouldn't even broach the subject with your parents yet

your doc might tell you in his professional opinion you are too young at this time for surgery

he might try and get you some help with an expert in nutrition

help/monitor your eating - giving you good solid advice

other good suggestions/advice too

you are great that you are trying to improve yourself, get healthier at your age

knowing the problem is half the solution (not sure if that's the correct saying)

you know you want/need to lose weight in some way

so you are 1/2 way there!!!!

many kids have been heavy all their lives :(

i have heard there are "some" (few) people in their late teens having had the surgery

some people in their 20's have had weight loss surgery

most people are 30 and over when they have surgery

eggggads that's pretty old

i was 57 years OLD  when i had surgery!!

many others were also my age or a little older

many people (including myself),wished they had surgery many many years ago

hope you are enjoying your summer vacation :)

back to school next month

my grand-daughter is also 14 :)

she will be entering the 8th grade in september

you too??

best of luck

good wishes and hugggs being sent your way

kathy

I agree that I would talk about the whole range of options with your PCP. Since you are a minor you might want to consider having your mom and/or dad sit down with you and your PCP to explore those options.
