fit2cmygirlsgrow 5 Posted August 5, 2015 I had my rny on 7/28 and still have had no BM and now 7 days post-op. Had my 1st post-op appointment today but forgot to tell my Dr. I've left a message for the nurse. Just wondering was this the case for anyone else. Also, today had some of the foaming after sipping 2 ounces of boost drink. Still having a bit of reflux symptoms after another 2 ounces of boost for dinner. Still on liquids so could that be why no BM? My NUT said it could be the result of the anesthesia. I feel fine other than these issues. I also still have my JP tube for another week since the Fluid amount was still quite high. I had a lot of scarring from a previous abdominal surgery though so I was under for quite a long time during surgery.
Be_pretty_epic 69 Posted August 5, 2015 I was under a while too. I now take Miralax in 4 oz of Water daily and I've had no issues. It took me 5 days to have one.
fit2cmygirlsgrow 5 Posted August 5, 2015 @@LittLeFoot14 thank you. May I ask how soon after surgery you started taking the miralax? They gave me liquid stool softener, but that won't make you go. I also don't have that usual Constipation uncomfortableness. I'm just not going.
Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 5, 2015 It's usually that first BM that can take quite a while before you go. For me I went 10 days without one then after that it was probably every 3 days. I am 10 months post op and still have Constipation issues. Just make sure you get your liquids in, it will definitely help. Also, my doctoral me use a dulcolax suppository which will help you go very quickly. Just make sure you talk to them first.
fit2cmygirlsgrow 5 Posted August 5, 2015 @@Djmohr thanks. Good idea to also ask about the suppository. Glad to hear it can take a while for the first BM. This has been a pretty good recovery for me so far. Hope I continue to do as well going forward.
