I was sleeved a week ago...my daughter and I were running around today and I thought to myself "we should go get some ice cream!" Then I realized what I was saying.....????

I did something similar around State of Origin (rugby league) time...

I planned to order 'the usual' pepperoni, onion, olive and anchovie pizza, cheesy garlic bread and bottle of Coke...

Then realised that would be a week's food and decided against it...

Instead I had smoked salmon salad and a Protein shake..

What a rebel!!!

I used to do it all the time. Along with automatically popping something in my mouth I wasn't supposed to have early out. I did that a lot, lol. Old habits die hard.

As time goes on, food will almost be an afterthought believe it or not. It takes time getting to the point where it isn't the center of our universe anymore.

I'm with you there @@Babbs

At 23 weeks post-sleeve, food is very much an afterthought already...

Yet there is still the occasional mental planning of a meal and then realising that not only will it not happen, it physically can't happen..

Oh well...

I may not eat much but I still have my rugged good looks...

And my incredible humility!!

Kinda...

Yes I have, especially when I go my favorite convenience stores. I walk over to the soda machine by years of rote practice and then stop myself. Oh well 50 years of habits ....

@@Elode - Moved here 20 years ago, 1 year, 7 months 5 days and 12 hours to go, and I can finally move to some place with less allergens (my daughter will finally graduate and I am out of here). ;-) Where is he from, and while I love the people in Oklahoma and very proud of the growth in OKC, I do NOT like living in the pollen capitol of the universe.

Unfortunately yes. On a really hot day when my husband has a glass of ice soda I've grabbed it and taken a drink only to have to spit it out because the bubbles burn my and quickly remind me it's a bad idea lol.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
