tina0377 5 Posted August 4, 2015 I am 6 weeks post op. I am on stage 4 and I feel like I have a lump in my throat and a pain in my chest whenever I eat grilled chicken or any kind of meat( soft meat, not steak). I'm careful to cut small pieces and chew well. Is this normal? Temporary?
Elode 8,093 Posted August 4, 2015 I am 9 months post op and still have that issue from time to time, it's normal. It may go away eventually.
KindaFamiliar 3,867 Posted August 4, 2015 G'day Tina, I can only speak of my own experiences.. As things currently stand, I tend to shy away from most meats. I'm 23 weeks post-op and still struggle with a similar feeling if I have meat. I chew and chew but it doesnt help. I've now resigned myself to eating minimal meat.< /p> I gnaw at the occasional lump of bacon (mmmmmmmmmmm... bacon) or suck the fat from the odd lamb chop with a tail, but that's it. I've no idea whether it's temporary or not, but just remember... It's ok to spit if you don't want to swallow... Kinda..
Daveo 485 Posted August 4, 2015 I'm almost 6 months post op and I have a hard time with meats still. I tend to eat more soft foods still but I can take some bites of meat but it makes me feel like I have bricks in my stomach.
