What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"

Recommended Posts

I am only 2 1/2 weeks out and I feel wonderful. I went out to eat twice. First time was a dinner I had Rio poached eggs well done and I mashed them up, the next time I ordered steamed Fish which I mashed up and chewed well. I enjoyed the company and was not jealous. Eating out is about socializing and I really don't want to loose that.

I needed your comment, hpa. I spent a lot of money on dinner w friends this week. We split the bill. And, it was not "fair" financially...but so worth being w friends.

I enjoyed reading this thread so much that I'm bringing it back!!

My peeve of the week. I want to be a personal trainer and my best friend told me if I get the surgery I will be a hypocrite because I'm supposed to be setting an example for my clients and leading a healthy lifestyle "the natural way".

I think my pet peeve is when people say, "oh your husband must be so happy now." News flash people... My husband has been happy and loved me fat, thin, young and older. Why do people think your spouse is miserable if you are fat. That is my pet peeve.

YES. exactly this. my dear husband has always acted like he won some kind of prize talking me into getting married again. no matter my size. no matter my age.

My pet peeve...hard to decide on just one. I have a friend who had the RNY. She started around 500# and got down to 200#. She posts pics of what she eats, on Facebook. Very high in fat, calories, and sugar, like Mexican and Desserts. She also likes to comment on my posts, about my success or distress over gain, saying things like my husband and I can fit into my old pants, etc. I even saw her in person, once, and she said she didn't recognize me because I looked so old. I don't think I do, but I started using facial moisturizers and dying my hair, religiously.

My husband likes to try and get me to eat junk, too. He'll be like, you deserve it, you've lost so much. I secretly think he wants me to gain more weight back, as he likes big women. *sigh*

I do not think you look old.

my favorite facial moisturizer is coconut oil or aragon oil. :-)

he may be doing that to get you to gain back, or he could have been taught his whole life to equate food with love, and he is trying to express that to you. you can both learn new ways if that is what is going on.

Right now,my biggest pet peeve is people telling me I am wasting away to nothing. I hear this where I work mostly and it drives me crazy! Another pet peeve is hearing the bad foods 'sleevers' eat that we all know they should avoid them at all cost. Hearing someone say they ate ice cream or chips just makes me want to scream!!

"How do you feel?" (Often in hushed tones as if they are about to receive a deep, dark confession).

I don't know why this grates on my nerves. Maybe it's because it seems almost every single person asks me that, and really, what can I say besides "good". Then there seems to just be an awkward silence after, as they as waiting for me to expound on my answer.

I think people must have thought I was absolutely miserable every waking second when I was obese. Sure my knees hurt a little less and EVERYTHING in life is easier now, but honestly, I felt pretty good when I was super morbidly obese too!

I agree, sabotages and haters lol

But, realistically, this is life right? We will all face eating bad sometimes and we give in. Lifestyle changes are what our mutual goal

Is. What I feel is this. I've been post op almost 2 years now. I eat like crap at times, sometimes a lot. I know it's not good and can lead to weight gain. I'm human and become more mindful and eat " like a sleever " is suppose to.

I was truly devastated one time when I was told on here I was eating To Many calories. I was losing fast and I needed them. I didn't know that at the time and my whole mindset was shot.

So people who may eat lousy sometimes, it's life. We have our whole life ahead of us and as long as we know the repercussions of our actions .... It's ok.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
