Tomorrow is the day!! My surgery is scheduled for 930am. My house is spotless, groceries are bought, laundry is done, my support is coming in town today.... everything is taken care of. Im ready! Im making a list of what to pack for my stay in hospital. Im sure i wont need much. Any good suggestions of things you wished you had with you?

Best wishes and congratulations! You are going to do beautiful! I would suggest bringing a nice long charger cord for any electronics.

Good luck!

I only took my cell phone, a pillow for the ride home and biotene mouth spray. I only used my pillow and my cell. I played games while waiting for surgery and never touched it again.

I wore home what I wore to the hospital.

Good luck!!

I took too much....pretty much just something loose and comfy to wear home, easy slip on shoes, phone/tablet and chargers, maybe a book or crossword (but you might end up just napping a lot lol) ...get some GasX Strips (they help SOOOO much!), hairbrush, your own toothbrush if you want (most hospital provide this though, even deodorant too sometimes)...they will probably give you socks too, the non slippy kind...that's pretty much it, you really won't be there long at all and really not need anything...well, I didn't anyway :) They even had me bring my CPAP, but I didn't need it at all and still haven't used it since surgery :)

Good Luck and we'll see you on the other side!!

Val

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
