My Pre Op Diet Was All I Needed

Recommended Posts

Chuckster, again, good job on the results.

No.....great job on the results.

You've really accomplished something substantial. 146 lb lighter and you've been there for four years.

That is exceptional. You found the tools to do it. I'm guessing that's what we all are doing.....finding those tools we need.

The stats below your name say that you just joined but had surgery this past March. Somewhat confusing. Why did you join here these past few days and enter the information that you entered ?

This makes your initial post seem odd. This was lost on me at first. I was blown away with your results and didn't see this.

As far as being healthier now vs having the surgery......that is truly only for you to decide.

I felt the exact same way when I lost 125 lbs. I thought that I'd have made a mistake having WLS. I also learned a lot of lessons that I thought I'd not learned otherwise. Well....I've since learned a heap of other lessons.....and learned to appreciate many more viewpoints.

Weight loss and living healthy longterm has different paths to get there and different circumstances for each of us. I'd submit that getting there is the initial goal. Whatever path we take to get there....whatever tools we employ......all secondary to getting there.

Assuming we all get there......we've simply made it to the starting line. Then the real journey begins........maintaining healthy living. It's then that I'm guessing we'll all have more similarities than differences: small & frequent meals, quality food-not garbage, active lifestyles, etc. Being to maintain this lifestyle is the true test of being "more healthy".

I can say that without a shadow of doubt.....I'll be "more healthy" this time around with the bypass as a tool. Anyone that cares to argue with me can do so 10-15-20 years down the road. We'll see then.

Yup. Yup. Yup. This is EXACTLY why I questioned the intent. Quack.

There's nothing worse then former smokers who cough like crazy when they see someone smoking, former drunks that think they have found all the answers about alcohol, and former fattys that sneer at us who remain overweight or choose a way to live longer by having surgery. I feel sorry for Chuck I think he's lonely.

Great, now I'll take down the details of my sex life...just kind of ticked me off and I suspected that the troll has never had the pleasure, so seemed like a fun place to twist the knife a little. ;-)

What the heck is going on with this site lately? It sure has been getting spammed by a lot of people with other intentions....mostly just advertisements for services but still.

I have a feeling 'ol Chuckster was either a troll or a spammer.

He sure liked the word "glutton".

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
