Hey everyone,

I'm only 5 weeks post-op, but I keep reading discussions where people bring up the hairloss (I guess around month 3)....

I'm really obsessed with my hair- its one of the few things I'm actually concerned with in regards to my appearance. Its always been there for me (like even if this is wrong, at least I have good hair)

Is there anyway I can mitigate the hair loss? Extra Protein, Vitamins, anything? I'm scare for my poor hair :(

Biotin is supposed to help...whether it does or doesn't idk yet (I'm pre op). Honestly I'm concerned badly with it but I'm thinking about it like this....hair will shed AND grow back and I have thick hair so hopefully its not too noticeable. Loose skin is a bigger worry of mine lol.

@@TexasGirl86 Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones? I tried everything 10,000mg of Biotin (even before surgery) I got all my Protein in within the first two weeks, took all my Vitamins, only washed my hair every other day ect... Unfortunately none of that did any good. It still came out but on the bright side I just cut it off and I love it! It's soooo much better than having hair sticking to me! I know it sounds dramatic but it grows back and it's really worth it once the weight comes off. It's like having a baby, it hurts but once you see the results It won't even matter :)

Sadly I'm now going through those. I have natural curly hair so I don't want to cut it but I may have to soon. It's so bad I'm always picking hair off my shirts. :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
