Terranne 0 Posted July 26, 2007 Can you claim the cost of the surgery if it's not done in Canada? Can you claim expenses associated with the fills too?

loriely 0 Posted August 1, 2007 We are being audited too. Government just does not like to pay that money out. Oh well. Have to look for all the receipts.
Donna D 1 Posted August 1, 2007 As long as you have the receipts you won't have a problem. They love to collect but not pay out.
argon 3 Posted August 14, 2007 Just got my 'review' of my medical claim in the mail today! Lucky for me, I have all the receipts set aside for just such an event! Anyone know if you need to send the originals of the receipts?
Cindy_D 1 Posted August 14, 2007 Argon I would only if they ask - did you use an accountant or a tax firm? If not and they want originals I would photocopy everything and if they won't let you take them to the office, then send them registered. Good luck! Donna D 1 Posted August 15, 2007 Hi Argon, photocopies should be fine. You are doing fabulous by the way. Diamonds seem to have an effect on you......
sweetforlife 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Hey Donna, Do you know how much you get back from the gov't for such a surgery?
Donna D 1 Posted August 15, 2007 Sweet I haven't put a claim in yet as I had my surgery this April 07. From what I have heard it is about $3000. that you'll get back. Maybe someone who has claimed can let us both know. How are you feeling by the way? Can you burp now and did you call TLBC?
sweetforlife 0 Posted August 15, 2007 I am feeling better....I got a de fill yesterday...at surgery you have about 3 cc's in the band...they took this out....I don't feel so constricted in my chest but I still can't burp...I think with time it will happen. Donna D 1 Posted August 15, 2007 I didn't have any fill done during my initial surgery. I was done at TLBC. Is that how Dr. Coburn does it. I'm glad you took the advise here and got that taken care of. You can always fall back on this site for sure.

CandiceNC 0 Posted August 16, 2007 I was audited, I went through H&R block, revenue canada had me send in all the recipts to confirm, took an extra 8 weeks, but I did get approx 3000 back, because of claiming the surgery. If I could have split it up into a couple years I would have gotten more back but dangit, they wont let you.. oh well 3000 is better than nothing!
