7 months post op and having Endoscopy tomorrow

Recommended Posts

6 months post op I was still feeling no restriction, an upper GI showed that I indeed had no restriction but that the band was properly placed.. They gave me a fill, and am at almost 10ccs in my 14 cc band. I have not felt full in 7 months, with the exception of the first week post op. When I eat anything that is not soft I hurt almost immediately and often throw up....even if I cheat and sip Water with it. I have developed an ulcer in the back of my throat and can only eat soft food very slowly to keep from hurting or getting sick. Even more bizarre my band seems to be as tight in the evening as it is in the morning- I have a brief window around 2-3pm when food is best tolerated.

My biggest fear is that tomorrow morning they are going to tell me that my band looks fine. I want to know what is wrong, I want to fix it, I want this to work.

Were you banded in Huntsville, AL? I'm having the same issue and also had an endoscopy. They found polyps but said the band is fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
