lisalisak 11 Posted August 3, 2015 Hi! My name is lisa. I am a single female with great support from my family! However I need someone that is going or been through this. Is anyone from the Pennsylvania area that would be interested in just having a friend to go through this with. Male or female doesn't matter!!????
hcamp571 3 Posted August 3, 2015 I'm not living in the Pennsylvania area, but I would very much like a pal to help me through this process. My surgery was 7/15/15.

Pjkar 0 Posted August 3, 2015 Hello Lisa - I too am a single woman living in Pennsylvania and I had the surgery done on June 25. I think I have had great results so far and my family has been wonderful but I think they may be sick of talking about it all the time with me. Now, I would be very thankful for a support buddy/buddies. Good luck on the 26th. Will you have to start your pre-op diet soon?
lisalisak 11 Posted August 3, 2015 Pjkar..congrats on your "new beginning" I do not need a pre-op diet..thank God...I am really getting nervous though! I want to hear about everything you are going through!!
Pjkar 0 Posted August 3, 2015 A new beginning is exactly right. I completely looked at this operation like I was pressing my "restart" button. I had to do 2 weeks of liquids prior to surgery. So, you are lucky if you do not have to do that. Although, it did help me drop 15 lbs prior. Thankfully, I have had no problems with my recovery over the last month. The day of surgery and the one after I did not feel my best but the recovery has been amazing since then. I cannot believe how fast my body went back to feeling normal. I was very careful to follow my doctors directions and I still do as I am currently in the mushy food phase. Immediately after surgery, just as they say, I had a hard time consuming the Water and Protein. (Only because I didn't want to ingest anything at all.) I looked at like it was my full time job and I managed to get it all in those first few days. It has gotten much better since then and I drink like a normal person again. Now, my struggles are making it through food at the family reunion (that was yesterday), finding a Protein supplement that I have not grown tired of, making sure I walk each day, etc. I could type a book about my past 5 weeks. Is there anything specific you wanted to know? Also, what area of PA are you in?
lisalisak 11 Posted August 3, 2015 I am in the Harrisburg area. I have lost some weight with the pre-op . not even sure what to ask. I think right now my biggest concern is will I be able to get the Fluid and food in I need, will I be able to get my Vitamins in so I don't lose hair and wear myself down. Also I have a gluten intolerance, how will this affect me..I know my doctor will answer that. I am just down right nervous all of a sudden. What will I need to get for right after surgery? Any suggestions about the hospital bag?
klb827 0 Posted August 11, 2015 Hello, I'm Karen. I had the sleeve May 27th. I had to do 6 week on opti-fast before surgery. I'm close to Chester County PA. The first two days after surgery kicked my butt. Pack comfortable clothing and robe. Be ready to start walking as soon as u can. I'm 9 weeks out and still burping lots. I do need to push myself to walk more. Do not be nervous you will do fine.
lisalisak 11 Posted August 11, 2015 Thank you Karen!! They moved my surgery date up today to the 19th. Endoscopy tomorrow...I'm almost there!
jennfred 25 Posted August 11, 2015 I am having mine on the 19th as well. It is now really starting to kick in that this is happening. Last week I had a fast food funeral, so much so that the thought of fast food makes me feel nauseous. So now I am ready I juiced today had a Protein Shake and lots of Water. My family now thinks this is a bad idea so I am feeling a little frustrated with that but will get through this week. I keep having weird dreams about having the surgery.
