Tomorrow is my Surgery!

Recommended Posts

Hello All.

I'm 5'7 and 225. Going in for my Sleeve tomorrow. I'm just worried that I won't be able to handle the surgery. Otherwise I'm all set. Have read the good and the bad. But it's time I felt healthy. I need to enjoy life again and to work out. I'm 52

Thank you both for the support. I am snapping and everyone today. Maybe cause I'm beginning to panic. But once I'm drugged they can do what they want with me.

Congrats on your surgery day! Nerves are normal, but you're going to be more than fine. Concentrate on why you're doing this, and what you hope to achieve. You are so much stronger than you realize.

Good luck!

You should feel freaked out. It's big. But man is it sooooo worth it on the back end. Breathe deeply...

Good luck and lots of prayers with you.

I think I will be the same way and feel "put the mask on and tell me to breathe". Done deal.

The next year of my life is going to be amazing.

Good luck to you!

I had my sleeve last Thursday. Let me tell you, I have such a low pain tolerance, I feel like I've been stabbed violently if I even stub my toe! I was worried about how much the surgery would hurt, but I'm pleased to say it wasn't as bad as expected. While in hospital you're hopped up on painkillers and they send you home with some too -- I'm off them as of today. The gas build-up was more painful than the incisions (and that's more of a discomfort than a major pain).

All that said, I'm sure you'll be fine. If low pain tolerance me can make it through, you can too!

Congratulations, I had my surgery last Wednesday and I'm back to work today. I feel great, but more than that these are the numbers that makes it all worth it.

2 weeks before surgery 240 lbs

Day of surgery 229 lbs

And as of today 221.5

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
