Weight loss is definitely slowing down from the first 2 months (I'm a little over 3 months post-op), but I'll take it. Down exactly 75lbs as of this morning. I'm only weighing myself once a week because I don't like seeing the scale fluctuate (well, going up) throughout the week when I weighed in every day. Come Monday mornings, I'm super anxious to get on the scale at 6:00AM, but am always happy to see it trending down.

I've also noticed I seem to be able to eat much more, but I've been told since I'm much more active now (strength training + cardio nearly 5+/week) that it's okay to eat a little bit more to keep my energy up.

Decided to treat myself with the Whispbar rails and a Yakima roof rack for my bike since I'm riding it again. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can install it and try it out.

The Protein requirement is the sum of the Protein you get from meals combined with the protein from supplements. As my meal volume increased, I was able to derive more protein from my meals and as a result reduce my protein supplements (Protein shakes, protein bars). The supplements have calories. In my case dropping some of my supplements (while still meeting the protein requirements) meant less calories and the weight loss picked up again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
