acsabon 6 Posted August 3, 2015 Hello everyone! I have bcbs federal with a BMI of 30 was curious if anybody had an experience getting approved with this BMI. Only other thing I have is fibromyalgia but diabetes and heart problems are such a problem with my.family.
3bluecrayons 0 Posted August 3, 2015 I don't have BCBS, but most insurance companies usually require at least a 40 BMI and at least one co-morbidity confirmed, like diabetes, sleep apnea, or high blood pressure. Maybe some might do a 35 BMI? But I do know that a family history isn't enough. I'm actually looking at getting a revision so I have the joy of going through it again. PlBren 21 Posted August 5, 2015 I have BCBS federal with a BMI of 38 and moderate sleep apnea but no other comorbidities. My paperwork was just filed on Monday - Aug 3rd so as of now, I don't know if I will be approved or not. I also have a hiatal hernia that will be repaired at the same time so I hope they take that into consideration.

rln52 136 Posted August 5, 2015 my BMI was 38 at submission of paperwork to BCBS with diabetes , sleep apnea and high cholesterol. I worried too. I read bcbs conditions for approval include BMI 35 with comorbitities. Mine took about 3 weeks and I received an approval for the 1 day hospital stay about 1 week before the approval was made for surgery. Also I called them often to ask. Best of luck!
