TAB 0 Posted July 3, 2007 :help: I have 2 re-accuring problems at the moment, 1st one is, I can do good all day long, nite time I fall apart, I eat all through the nite. I will say I don't eat as much as I did, I just don't want to eat at all during the nite, once I wake up the first thing I go for is a bowl of Cereal. It goes down easy, it has liquid with it and I enjoy it, I just don't wish to enjoy it at nite.:hungry:  my other issue is, I feel like I can eat more, I've had 2 fills total. when I first got the fills, eating was a little harder, now after having the fill for 2 weeks, food goes down easier. Do you think the liquid somehow comes out and its not as tight, or did I stretch something? How do you know? My doctor did tell me that my 3rd fill would be my most noticeable, which I'm due to have done on 7/18/07, has any one else felt like the tightness goes away as time goes by. I'm a little discouraged because I don't seem to be loosing any weight, I'm not gaining but I'm not loosing either-got any suggestions:speechles
NaturalBeauty 2 Posted July 3, 2007 TAB, you will have to come to grips yourself with the night eating. It's something that I think we all have done & that's why we're over weight. There is no easy solution, you are going to have to give yourself a cut off time and stick to it. The band is a tool & you must do your part in order for it to work and that's with or without restriction. If you've only had 2 fills then your restriction is properly minimum and that's when you should be following the band rules. It's OK that you don't have restriction after 2 fills, it may take up to 4 fills but just remember you will lose restriction with each fill. They don't last forever that's why we have to continue to get fills. Usually with every 15/20lbs lost you lose restriction because the fatty part around your band decreases which allows you to lose restriction. The band is about you doing your part & please take my advise, learn what you need to now & do what you need to do in the eating department. This will help you when you get to maintenance & you will not repeat the cycle that we all have done after losing the weight. For me, maintenance has been hard but I'm still managing to keep off the weight with 6 days of exercise; 3 nights of weight training & trying to balance my food intake. I'm not trying to be hard, I just know how hard it can be when you don't learn the right way to eat in the beginning. Plus you could cause damage to your band when proper restriction comes & you don't stop eating. I wish you the best.
juliegeraci 7 Posted July 3, 2007 You should do much better after your 3rd fill. Also, make sure you are eating enough solid Protein. That may help you stop snacking at night.
socalgal3 4 Posted July 3, 2007 What kind of band do you have? The 10cc band will require more fills to get proper restriction from what I hear. Find something to do in the evenings to keep your mind off food. Exercise, knit, call someone, journal...whatever it is that helps you. If you absolutely must eat cereal, make sure you use nonfat, 1% or lowfat milk with a HEALTHY low-sugar/calorie cereal like Kashi. I agree with Julie as well that more Protein earlier in the day may help fend off physical hunger. Mental hunger is a whole other beast! It is possible that you have lost some fill. Most doctors take out all of the saline and then put it back in to make sure you don't have a leak. Make sure your doctor does this. Stretching your pouch can happen if you consistently overeat, so measure your food to prevent this. Hang in there!

I have great restriction for a few weeks and then it disappears. The 2nd fill actually came and then left and then restriction came back - and then left again. I can eat a horse right now, however, I stick to the moto, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should". So am forcing myself to eat healthy and exercise, I eat more than a bandster should, but not as much as my "pre-banding" life. I'm maintaining my weight right now, not gaining, not losing, but I suspect after my next fill (3 days - 4 hours and 2 minutes away - but whose counting, lol) I will start losing again. serenity 1 Posted July 8, 2007 In the same boat with you TAB, I am hungry in the evenings also, which was always a bad time for me. I am six (6) weeks out of surgery and attempted to get my first fill on Friday, but my doctor believes my port flipped, so I am unable to get the fill until radiology determines the problem. Like the other replies, I am trying to apply common sense - not overeating and walking with hopes that while waiting for my tool to be operable, I do not do more damage. BUT IT IS HARD. Like many have said, if I could have done this on my own, I would not have gotten the band. Any suggestions on fighting this urge to eat until we are properly armed (band working) would be appreciated.
anillacookie 0 Posted July 8, 2007 Me too Me Too........:tired...I have a horrid time at night. I have had so many fills and unfills I have lost track. I think I'm at 1.7cc right now. I have some restriction mostly during the day then BAM.......12:00 comes around and I to could :hungry:eat a horse. I was wondering how do you know what a good fill is? I have not lost any lbs's for a year. Should I tell them to just fillherup? I'm very frustrated.:think It is true to that I can NOT eat the way I use to but I must still be eating to much. except that I have not really gianed any lbs's I bounce up and down 5lbs:angry.
