I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and the past 3-4 days I've been having problems with feeling extremely light- headed and dizzy every time I stand up. It doesn't seem to matter what I've eaten previous to standing either. I've checked my sugar and my B/P and both are fine. Anyone else had this problem?

I am having the same issue occasionally. Seems to be related to exercising without enough calories or fluids first. Are you getting your Water / fluids in?

I'm trying to get all my fluids in, it's a lot harder than I expected. I'll have to monitor the Water intake a little more closely. Thank you for replying, hopefully we both feel better soon.

I've had the same problem! Went to the Dr last week and he recommended to drink more than 64oz of Fluid per day and to drink electrolytes as well, that has been helping me. I've made it my job to get my fluids in.... And it's hard work! He also said that our bodies are struggling to figure out what happened to them and sometimes when we shift our weight too fast that can cause dizzies also. Good luck to you, I feel your pain!

I am having this issue as well. The when I told my surgeon, he said that I just wasn't getting enough fluids in a day. I admit that in the beginning I was not able to always get the 64 oz of Water a day. But I am routinely getting over 70 oz a day now and the problem is just as bad as always. I have stumbled and almost fallen over many times. Sometimes I check my BP and it is 105-ish over 65-ish. While not clinically low, it is a far cry from what I have had for the past 15 years.

I am going to make it a point to talk to my surgeon again at my 6 month follow up appt.

I had this problem after surgery as well, about the same time frame as you. I just wasn't getting enough Water in and for a few days I really pushed getting my water in over calories. When your stomach is still swollen it seems like we either get water in for the day or Protein, very hard to get both!

Try the Gatorade g2. That has helped me with dizziness.

I get dizzy when I stand up if my sodium is low. Luckily my endocrinologist warned me that it might happen. When it happens I either go eat something with a little salt or drink some Powerade zero.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
