How long was your longest stall?

Recommended Posts

My scale hasn't moved in nearly two weeks. I will be a month post op on August 6th. Is this normal???

Yes, not uncommon. And, it can depends on a number of factors. I have been stalled since April. However, I am losing inches. Could it be muscle gain? Are you rigid with your Doc rules? Are you getting sufficient Protein? How about Water? In some instances for no real rhyme or reason, weight loss will stall and, then, just as suddenly start moving again. Hope you see the scale moving soon.

Yes, perfectly normal. It's called the dreaded three week stall. There are many posts on BP about it. My longest stall was 38 days. Just stick to your plan and stay away from the scale. It will move, on its own time!

A month..stay on your plan and stay off scale. One of many as you continue your journey. Your body is confused about what is going on..lol

My longest stall was 3 weeks and it started 3 weeks post op to around 6 weeks. After that, I've gone maybe a week or two at most without losing but then it's always followed by a pretty decent loss. I feel like there was nothing I could do to budge the scale during that first stall so I'm not sure there's anything you could do. I tried increasing my calories and then decreasing, drinking more Water, more Protein, less Protein. I was half crazy over it. But just know that it will end eventually and that scale will move.

I've had a couple stalls. The longest lasting 3 weeks. Then all the sudden I'll loose 15lbs in 2 weeks. It's crazy. Just stick to your diet and exercise and in the long run it will pay off. I'm 5 months out and down 92lbs. If the scale stresses you out then stay off it! You notice the changes is many other ways! Good luck!

I think I will take the advice of staying away from the scale.... It's making me kind of crazy.

I weigh myself only once a week. Most weeks the scale does not move. I think I was at 274 for 3 weeks. Then it moves rapidly down. I was at 254 for 2 weeks and then my weigh in last Friday I was down to 249.

During this whole process I continued to lose inches off my waist (48" to 40") which is a far more important indicator to me personally.

Additionally I can actually bench press more now than I could pre-op. My blood pressure, WITHOUT medication (after 10 years of taking pills), is now 110/70 with a resting heart rate of 57. I no longer snore and sleep a full 8 hours everynight.

My advice to you is to stay of the scale. It is in some ways meaningless. To me, the qualityof life issues are MUCH more important than mass x gravity measured on a bathroom device.

The longest stall that I have had in the last almost 5 months was 5 weeks. I was stuck between 203-201, but as of today I am back at 200 lbs.

We all stall, but sometime the stall can be because we are choosing not to drink our Water or eat our Protein and eat a lot of carbs. We all use food as confort, I know I was, but I also had to check myself at the door and say I am not doing this anymore. Self Sabatage is the hardest thing to work on especially when you don't want to admit it to yourself.

I had an 8 week stall. What can you do right, except be patient and realize everyone's body is different. I didn't give up - I guess we really don't have much choice with being volume restricted. But, hey I'm down nearly 75 pounds and coming up on my 1 year anniversary. Patience and realizing this is a long term/permenant thing.

I'm in a 6 week stall at 4 months post op! Very frustrating but also this stall has coincided with 3 family birthdays, 1 vacation and I swear I retain Water in the hot summer months! So, I'm back to drinking two Premier Protein drinks and getting the rest of my calories (trying to stay around 800) from low fat Protein and drinking a TON of water! Maybe the scale will move again. Oh and I forgot, walking 4x per week for 45 minutes!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
