Falling hair, I knew...falling eye lashes, thinning eye brows?!

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 4 months post op. I've been following the diet, I'm excercising, I feel great. So my hair has started falling and I expected it. However, I guess I didn't think my other hair on my body would fall too. Is it just me, should I be worried?! This is so strange as I don't have much body hair to begin with. Anyone else?!

I have only lost hair on my head and a lot of it too. Jokingly I wished I would lose it on my legs.

I have not heard anyone mention losing eye lashes and brows before.

Have you asked your surgical team?

Are you getting the required daily Protein?

Yes, I am getting about 80-90g a day, honestly it may be a bit more. I'm taking my Vitamins. I'm wondering if it's my thyroid which has been an uphill battle since last year. They keep adjusting it higher. I'm drinking right at 100 oz of Water s day. Dietary wise I'm getting my veggies in and keeping the sugar out as much as possible. The absolute worse thing I can think is that I sneak the occasional chip or French fry. I'm walking and starting to jog on s daily basis.

Around 15 years ago long before surgery my hair started to turn white and fall out because of age. At the time I began taking a supplement called Juvenon (available over the internet). It was to try and restore my mitochondria in my cells. I had asthma and the supplement increased my lung function substantially (around 200 in my peak flow meter). One of the side effects of this supplement is that my hair stopped falling out and stopped turning white.

I had RNY surgery 29 months ago. I began using the supplement as soon as my surgeon allowed. I never noticed any hairless from the surgery.

So if a lack of Protein isn't the problem, you might give this a try.

I'm not sure I've heard that, but maybe people just don't talk about it because it's not as alarming as losing the hair on your head (or wouldn't be for *me*, anyway.....). I'd be willing to bet the cause is the same, though.

Good point catwoman. The only reason I noticed is because I am a little OCD when it come to my face. I wear makeup every day. I check my eye brows and brush them, my eye lashes are already on the sparse side so a few missing is obvious. I started hair, skin, nail Vitamin my dr recommended a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to give it a shot, he said they have seen great progress with them. I may have to resort to asking my dr for a latisse rx or start buying false eye lashes at the rate I'm going. I'm going to look more like a chemo patient at the rate they are falling.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
