Title says it all.

Was out running some errands and couldn't resist hitting the drive thru at the doughnut shop......a place I know all too well.

Not the way I'd spend my money there in the past. :D I truly have zero desire for the rest of their menu right now.

I'm going to enjoy this for this duration of this week. I'm still 4+ months out from surgery so I'll continue to enjoy. Looking forward to getting through the surgery.....adapt to the new food intake and adding my coffee back to the daily grub. Love my java.

Ahhh, you got me! Reading the fine print I see you bought coffee!!

I am fighting the urge to have any food or caffeine funerals as I am having surgery on Tuesday. My doctor has no special pre-op diet; just nothing after midnight the night before surgery.

It really helps that I live 35 minutes from the nearest store and I have so few carbs in the house. My town doesn't even have a doughnut shop!

Reading members' stories is keeping me motivated. One can learn from success and from "failures."

Hahaha! I was like, $7..that's like 14 donuts, that sounds awesome...bad, but awesome. Then I read the receipt. I also like coffee, so my bill is usually $4.77 from Starbucks- grande skinny iced caramel machiatto. Mmmmm.

I stop every morning ( 5 days a week) and have a medium iced ( or hot int he winter) dunkies Iced coffee, black, i take it to work and add some of the coffee mate sugar free italian sweet cream, its sugar free, diary free and it gives both creaminess and sweetness to my iced coffee i am sooo hooked on the stuff. I usually manage to drink about 3/4 of the medium from 8 am to say noon time. My nutritionist and surgeon are okay with this since i didn't start this until about 4.5 months post surgery.

but that 4.5 months prior was tough with no coffee lol.

Caffeine for me isnt an issue, My nut and surgeon are even okay with me using an sugar free B12 energy shot about 45 minutes before a workout if im feeling sluggish. As my surgeon put it, if it gets you into the gym easier, then im all for it.

I try to limit them though as that much b12 probably isnt great for you, so no more the 2 or 3 in a 7 day period. and never more than 1 per day, and never on a non workout day, although thats only 1 day a week now since ive upped myself to 6 days a week workouts.

Well I wish it was true that I could never eat a doughnut again after surgery but not so much, tell that to the half of one I ate on my Vacation in Colorado last week :) . You will be able to eat them again you just may not want to. Enjoy!

Yup. No desire for them.

Maybe in a couple a years.....a 1/2 a doughnut may be okay.

For now.....up to the surgery.......and hopefully again in a few months after surgery.........the java is all I want from any doughnut shop.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
