Maraki 23 Posted August 2, 2015 Hi everyone did you stop drinking coffee or did you change to Decaf I love my coffee and just thinking about it is making me sad
lucky1gg33 107 Posted August 2, 2015 I swirled to Decaf. I also bought a Protein mix that was Cappuccino flavor. I make a morning shake with it and add hazelnut sugarfree Syrup and some decaf instant coffee. I don't crave coffee since surgery...and I was pretty addicted t o my morning cup! Good luck with everything!
esskay77 785 Posted August 2, 2015 Right after surgery I did give up coffee completely and was very happy. i was surprised how easy it was. However, I'm back on it. Part of me wishes I wasn't but I do love my coffee! I only have a cup a day, in the morning but I am considering giving it up again. If I could find a tasty Decaf, I would do that but I haven't found one yet. I drink my coffee black so adding flavors in didn't work for me but I can imagine for others, this would be a good option. lucky1gg33 107 Posted August 2, 2015 I don't notice the difference in Decaf but friends of mine converted slowly by cutting their regular grind with part decaf (same brand) and increasing decaf ratio every few pots until full decaf.
laguerr13 993 Posted August 2, 2015 Only that I really feel that it does nothing for me except for taste, I can't tell a difference between the tastes, but I really miss the pick me up it used to have, I stay away from caffeinated stuff cause I'm an addict and was addicted to coffee and energy drinks, so if grab one its not gonna be good
anaxila 501 Posted August 2, 2015 I added coffee back after about 3 months. The surgery team's guidance was to wait until I could routinely get in 100 oz of Water in a day. Also, they advise me to *subtract* the number of oz of coffee I drank from my total liquid intake for the day, to counteract the dehydration risk. So if I have 16 oz of coffee, I track that as -16oz of Water. I have no idea how valid this is, but it makes me limit my total caffeine intake and I've had no issues for the past 4 months. Ligaleagle86 6 Posted August 17, 2015 I drink coffee as well and try to compensate by drinking more water! I missed my coffee!
jess9395 5,449 Posted August 17, 2015 My doctor is fine with coffee consumption as long as you don't have existing acid issues (GERD, etc). I stopped for three months to allow for healing and now am back to my two cups a day. Hasn't given me any issues. Recent studies show that coffee/caffeine may not actually be dehydrating. People have posted links here you can search for (or do a google search). Anyhow, you know you can tell if you are hydrated by the color of your urine (straw colored or lighter is good) and I've never had a problem with hydration or acid since bout three weeks out (ie way before I stated drinking coffee again). So I've now given up coffee three times--for each pregnancy and for WLS and gone back to it each time LoL!
