I am 3 weeks post-op and down 18lbs. I've already plateaued and haven't lost any weight since week 2. I walk at least 40 minutes a day and even kicked it up to a light jog. I'm eating a lot of vegetable pureed Soup, homemade, Protein, and Water but can't seem to lose anymore. I didn't have to lose any weight prior to suregery. Is anyone else going through this?

I'm in the exact same spot. It feels frustrating but then I remind myself that 18 lbs of weight in three weeks is intense. Its a lot. Our bodies are probably adjusting to what is happening and trying to figure out whats going on.

I'm at week six and am down 30 lbs but had a stall at three weeks too. It will come off. I get discouraged thinking only 30 lbs in six weeks but I'd never have lost that much without surgery. It will happen!

So this may be to early to worry , but i feel a bit frustrated or nervous as well. I am 5 days post op and haven't lost a single pound. Nada, zip, zilch, zero. Is this normal? I am following my post op instructions, Water, walking, protien. I am sure I am being paranoid. I just wanted to ask seasoned post op people who know what to expect.

Yup, staying off the scale will keep your sanity! I of course never follow that plan but have learned not to get all e cited when the scale doesn't move. My longest stall was 28 days and yes, you will have many along the way.

In the first week you are still dealing with all the fluids they pumped into your body before surgery. Give it another week and you should see progress.

Anyone here of the 3 week stall? Sometimes it comes at 3 weeks, sometimes a week of two later but almost everyone has one. This is your body adjusting. You will have many stalls along the way. I don't call them stalls unless they last longer than a week and I don't lose anything during that week.

You have to remember your weight fluctuates all the time, that is why you should weigh at the same time of day and the same circumstances every time you weigh. I weigh first thing in the am right around the same time every morning.

Also, don't use the scale as your only barometer for success. You should be considering how you feel, how your clothes fit and measuring as well.

Remember, you did not become obese overnight and you will not get thin and healthy overnight either.

I personally use my clothing to assess my real progress.

Good luck everyone! You are all doing great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
