Hassan_AZ 7 Posted August 1, 2015 Hello fellow sleevers. I just got mine 4 days ago, recovering well, discharged yesterday. I drove a short distance this morning to nearest clinic to get my daily "anti clot" shot, felt very weak and not focused (but made it safely). Any idea when I can drive with confidence again? treed 9 Posted August 1, 2015 I was told I was allowed to start driving ASAP as long as I wasn't on the pain medications I'm 2 days out of the hospital and 4 days post op
Shustar 395 Posted August 1, 2015 I drove 4 days after surgery from San Diego to Scottsdale, AZ which was about 6 hours. No problems.
Hassan_AZ 7 Posted August 1, 2015 Thanks Treed for advice. July 29th too? I was discharged July 31st (extra conservative doctor, didn't let me drink a sip of Water till 2 days post op). Good luck with your recovery. In all fairness I'm drinking well, keeping fluids down, and pain at this stage is negligible. Thank you Shustar!
Icandoalthingsthruchrist 9 Posted August 1, 2015 I agree with Treed. As long as you feel comfortable and not on meds, I think it's ok. I was driving 3 days after surgery.
treed 9 Posted August 1, 2015 I drove today and was fine. Just avoid for sitting for a long time in the car lol
majorsmama 91 Posted August 1, 2015 I drove at 3 days post-op.
rln52 136 Posted August 2, 2015 Avoid prolonged sitting in car. Like a trip. Blood clots are always an issue. Driving to Errands or MD appointment should be fine if you feel GOOD.
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted August 2, 2015 I was driving 48 hours after surgery. As soon as I was no longer taking pain meds for 24 hours, I was cleared. Don't drive until YOU feel comfortable, though.
naturegirl 320 Posted August 2, 2015 I was sleeved on the 21st and started driving on the 26th, but only in short distances around town. Just in the last few days I've driven farther than 5 miles from home as I had been feeling dizzy and weak from the surgery.
Jim in Utah 25 Posted August 2, 2015 I was sleeved on a Thursday and drove on Saturday. Drove two hours on Sunday. No issues.
Hassan_AZ 7 Posted August 2, 2015 I was sleeved on a Thursday and drove on Saturday. Drove two hours on Sunday. No issues. Thanks Jim and everyone who encouraged me. I drove to work today (4 days post op) and it was just fine (I worked shorter hours, not fully there yet).
