Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted August 1, 2015 Sleevers don't have pouches. But, even though we don't have pouches from everything I have learned carbonation is not a good idea, especially when you are newly sleeved.
bellabloom 2,467 Posted September 1, 2015 I drink carbonated drinks all the time and have super tight restriction

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted September 1, 2015 @@bellabloom Is it different for people who have had bypass surgery than people with sleeves? People who have bypass do have a pouch which can stretch. Carbonation is not a good idea for bypass folks either.
Babbs 14,681 Posted September 1, 2015 @@Inner Surfer Girl And actually to piggy back onto that, the carbonation rule was specifically meant for the bypass folks BECAUSE their pouch can stretch. @@bellabloom It's because you're still in the honeymoon phase. Believe me, your restriction will be less and less over time. My husband could eat normal size portions in a matter of a few years because of carbonation consumption after RNY. bellabloom 2,467 Posted September 3, 2015 I had the sleeve. Still don't think it's a big deal.
lclemur 161 Posted October 4, 2015 I didn't even think about it the other day. We had a root beer float party, and I dug right in, forgetting about the carbonation. I didn't drink any more after I realized it, but I did have a stomach ache. BTW, I am 6 lbs. under goal, and am trying to figure out a way to STOP losing. I don't do many artificial sugar Snacks.< /p>
