I am a bottomless pit today!

Recommended Posts

I am just a little over 5 weeks out from VSG today, I have been so hungry!! I feel like I could eat all day. I am doing ok-I am at 700 calories and have hit 68 grams of Protein so far. I haven't gone over 600 calories since surgery. I have also been weepy and hormonal today-FYI had a partial hysterectomy 4 years ago-it could be PMS but I have no way of tracking it. I'm just a whiny butt today!!

Thanks for listening to me whine. Just needed to get that out!!

I HATE those days! Some days I barely feel like eating, and others I could eat all day long and have to restrain myself, lol. Although I don't have periods anymore, I really think it hormones for me, too.

Hang in there! We all need a good whine once in a while, lol.

When I get that way I have a piece of dark chocolate and a Dark chocolate Royal Atkins shake. It works! Or I just go to bed, that works too.

I have noticed that I am more hungry on some days than others as well. But I haven't been starving. TG! lol

I eat between 650-750 calories a day. Usually average around 700.

Hang in there! hopefully its hormonal and will end very soon!! :)

You nailed it! I too have days of super hunger and days I am not interested in eating! The days I am really hungry are frustrating because I end up having something I should not! Work in progress here!

The advice I got from the NUT was if I feel hungry then eat some Protein. She said not to worry so much about calories but get in the proper Protein and then if I was still hungry to either have more protein or make a salad.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
