Stall at 11 Days Out?

Recommended Posts

My weight loss has stalled the past 3 days. I don't understand as I am only eating about 400 calories per day and 75% of them are Protein.

I've heard of stalls later in the process (like around 3 weeks) but not this early. Any of you have similar experiences?

Hello John T. From my research, which is very extensive, your calorie count may be too low, so your body is already starving itself. You should increase your Protein. Your surgeon or nutritionist should be able to tell you how much. Your overall calorie count is way too low. 400 is low for a woman never mind for a man. No wonder you have stalled so early. Eating too little is as detrimental as eating too much. Good luck John!

It's normal, try to stay off the scales for awhile or you may drive yourself nuts.

its normal... relax. Do not weight yourself daily... pick a day or two in the week and go from there.

Follow your nutritionist. All is good I promise. Stalls happen all the time. Here is my chart from the last four months. See - stalls all over the place...

I remind myself that my body is still trying to adjust, and that I'm not going to be dropping a ton of weight every day. It might be a half pound or it might be 1. It's challenging to not weigh yourself every day, I catch myself doing it and have to remind myself that like a watched pot, the scale won't move downward by checking it every few hours.

My experience is that my weight drops in large amounts and then nothing for weeks. I was at 254 for 3 weeks and then weighed myself Friday (my weekly weigh in) and I had dropped to 249.

In the interim, I notice my clothes continue to get looser. I am working out regularly and have gained back my pre-op strength.

I am starting to notice the looser fitting clothes as well. Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Had a 1 month stall which played a lot of mind tricks on me- wish I would've measured myself as I did notice my clothes getting loose - now I'm losing again but of course not as fast - still it's going in the right direction down not up????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
