Well, I am now 2 days post op. When I awoke after surgery, I was in a lot more pain and discomfort than I had expected. I definitely had "buyer's remorse". But today is a much better day. I haven't had trouble getting food or Water down, although of course I get full easily! I took a shower and have been walking around. Still have tummy tenderness but it is manageable.

I hear ya! My surgery was the 28th of July. When I woke up I was so miserable, and definitely thought I had made a mistake! But I felt a bit better each day and today I'm mostly just tired! Glad to hear you are feeling better too! How long did you stay in the hospital?

I stayed 2 nights. I had my gallbladder removed during the surgery so I needed an extra night. So far I've been tolerating most liquids and I too am surprised ny the amount I can consume! My surgeon wants me to drink at least 40 ounces per day.

Oh wow you really had quite a handful to tough out! Congrats at getting through that! I think I am getting 40 oz but now I am starting to wonder if ill ever have a bm. I have til Monday.

Just watch your dairy with having your gb removed, for some ppl it can cause some issues.

I haven't poo'ed yet either lol. Thanks for the heads up on the dairy! Luckily I'm not much of a dairy fan so hopefully it won't be an issue.

Brown: I am feeling pretty good. When I take my walks I get more winded than usual but otherwise am ok. The tummy tenderness is getting better, too. My doc wants me to get in 64 oz of Fluid....I haven't reached that goal, I've been around 50-58 oz. So close. food I get down easily, been having Protein shakes I make, Tomato Soup w milk, and greek yogurt w stevia and cinnamon. For Snacks it's the sugar free popsicles...my favorite!

Oh, and I poo'd!!

Oh wow! Sounds like you're doing great. The greek yogurt sounds good. I'll think I'll try that. Any Protein Shakes you really? I'm trying a few different ones to see what I can buy closer to surgery.

Also yesterday I mixed a quarter cup of sugar free Jello vanilla pudding with a quarter cup greek plain yogurt. Gave it a little extra flavor from the pudding. I liked it, and got some Protein in.

Congratulations, I had my RNY on the the 28th. No pain meds since about 4 am on the 29th. I have had some very mild discomfort with the incisions, now they just itch. But the staples come out in 5 hours. BM came at three days post op. I have been behind on Fluid intake only 14 ounces first day home. And have increased daily, broke the 48 Oz mark yesterday for the first time. I think I had some lasting inflammation as I had very bad case of dry heaves after surgery. Took three different anti nausea meds to get it stopped. Not sure if it was from the anesthesia or what.

It seems there is a big difference in the diets I have seen. I was 2 days post before Protein shakes and can start yogurt and blended strained Soups tomorrow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
