jennysayscheese 23 Posted July 31, 2015 Well, I am now 2 days post op. When I awoke after surgery, I was in a lot more pain and discomfort than I had expected. I definitely had "buyer's remorse". But today is a much better day. I haven't had trouble getting food or Water down, although of course I get full easily! I took a shower and have been walking around. Still have tummy tenderness but it is manageable.
Offbeats 2 Posted July 31, 2015 I hear ya! My surgery was the 28th of July. When I woke up I was so miserable, and definitely thought I had made a mistake! But I felt a bit better each day and today I'm mostly just tired! Glad to hear you are feeling better too! How long did you stay in the hospital?
jennysayscheese 23 Posted July 31, 2015 Went in Wednesday and was discharged Thursday evening. How about you? What have you been eating? I can handle.more than I thought, which worries me some.
Offbeats 2 Posted August 1, 2015 I stayed 2 nights. I had my gallbladder removed during the surgery so I needed an extra night. So far I've been tolerating most liquids and I too am surprised ny the amount I can consume! My surgeon wants me to drink at least 40 ounces per day.
jennysayscheese 23 Posted August 1, 2015 Oh wow you really had quite a handful to tough out! Congrats at getting through that! I think I am getting 40 oz but now I am starting to wonder if ill ever have a bm. I have til Monday. Just watch your dairy with having your gb removed, for some ppl it can cause some issues. Offbeats 2 Posted August 2, 2015 I haven't poo'ed yet either lol. Thanks for the heads up on the dairy! Luckily I'm not much of a dairy fan so hopefully it won't be an issue.
jennysayscheese 23 Posted August 2, 2015 Brown: I am feeling pretty good. When I take my walks I get more winded than usual but otherwise am ok. The tummy tenderness is getting better, too. My doc wants me to get in 64 oz of Fluid....I haven't reached that goal, I've been around 50-58 oz. So close. food I get down easily, been having Protein shakes I make, Tomato Soup w milk, and greek yogurt w stevia and cinnamon. For Snacks it's the sugar free popsicles...my favorite! Oh, and I poo'd!!

I'm trying a few different ones to see what I can buy closer to surgery.
jennysayscheese 23 Posted August 3, 2015 I bought pro action Protein powder from Savemart. 22g Protein, 118 cal 2 sugars and 32 servings. Was 24$ I think. When is your surgery?
jennysayscheese 23 Posted August 3, 2015 Also yesterday I mixed a quarter cup of sugar free Jello vanilla pudding with a quarter cup greek plain yogurt. Gave it a little extra flavor from the pudding. I liked it, and got some Protein in.
Blind Squirrel 7 Posted August 3, 2015 Congratulations, I had my RNY on the the 28th. No pain meds since about 4 am on the 29th. I have had some very mild discomfort with the incisions, now they just itch. But the staples come out in 5 hours. BM came at three days post op. I have been behind on Fluid intake only 14 ounces first day home. And have increased daily, broke the 48 Oz mark yesterday for the first time. I think I had some lasting inflammation as I had very bad case of dry heaves after surgery. Took three different anti nausea meds to get it stopped. Not sure if it was from the anesthesia or what. It seems there is a big difference in the diets I have seen. I was 2 days post before Protein shakes and can start yogurt and blended strained Soups tomorrow.
