MzB 297 Posted July 31, 2015 I am almost 3 months out and I have noticed that I am bruising very easily and the bruises are taking a long time to heal. What vitamin(s) might I be deficient in? I am taking a Bariatric Complete Vitamin, extra D3, B12, Biotin and Iron. Apparently my blood work at 6 weeks came back just fine. Any ideas?

Veronica Page 488 Posted July 31, 2015 Well I was going to say low in Iron but apparently your blood work came back just fine. I had anemia before I had surgery and mine is worst since then. I have bruises everywhere and they can take a month to heal. I wish I had more advice but certainly do not. Good luck!
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted July 31, 2015 A year ago I had that problem really bad. I had huge bruises between my knees just from sleeping on my side! Part of the problem was I got too thin. even though the nutrient analysis showed no problems, i do believe it was related to nutrition. I was put on a natural remedy called "veinoblend" that provides additonal micronutrient support beyond the multi Vitamin. I started eating more (I was well into maintance when this happened to me) and it solved the problem. Try looking into a tempory iinfusion of a vein support remedy from a health food store. James Marusek 5,244 Posted August 1, 2015 Long before surgery, I began to bruise easily. In my case I was taking an aspirin a day. I reduced my dosage down from 325 mg down to 81 mg and the bruising went away. Some over the counter pain medicines such as Excedrin contain large amounts of aspirin. Aspirin is a blood thinner. My mom was taking 4 to 6 Excedrin a day for pain relief. She did this for several years. Eventually she saw blood in her stool. She had to have blood transfusions. Once I got her off the Excedrin she recovered.
Painter Girl 3 Posted August 1, 2015 Are you taking a baby aspirin every day? A lot of doctors tell patients to do that. I'm asking, because when I do, I bruise easily.... aspirin thins the blood.

Thanks for this CowgirlJane. I'll definitely check it out. However I'm going to wait to make any changes to any supplements at the moment. I should be doing my one year blood draws shortly. I want to see how they come back. (I had a physical in March and my levels were normal then). If still ok, then something like this is certainly worth a try. CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted August 2, 2015 Sounds like a smart plan. My blood work was perfect and I was bruising like mad...
cherisenoir8 1 Posted September 20, 2015 I was told by my physician assistant that it was due to a decrease in Vitamin K, which causes you to bruise easily. She told me not to worry too much about it and that if it got worse, they would have my levels checked. It's apparently a common thing with anyone that has abdominal surgery. Hope this helps.
