Livincrimson 20 Posted July 31, 2015 Almost a year out from my RNY, lost a lot (200+ from highest weight) having such trouble finding clothes and feeling confident wearing them. Any ideas where to shop? What clothes styles work? I'm lost...super overwhelming. I have heavy legs, and a tiny waist, walking into stores I have never fit into.. just ugh... any help. ..?? James Marusek 5,244 Posted July 31, 2015 I found the whole experience exhilarating. I couldn't buy clothes in a normal department store before surgery because I was too large. After I dropped the weight and went into the maintenance phase, I completely replaced my wardrobe. I am a good bargain shopper. Generally I can find good brands on sale for 70-80 percent off at the end of the season. Generally I shop at Macy's because that is where I find the best bargains. But it is all a matter of preferences in clothing styles and shopping outlets. Go out and have some fun.
Livincrimson 20 Posted July 31, 2015 Thank you for responding I will try and do just that. We are new to the United states (Canadian here) so it's been odd trying to find anything for my kids even, but for me, I'm right lost ! Plus, not knowing my size and not liking how things fit. Totally different experience. I guess I just have to get my head in the game and do it.. not let it intimidate me... or try to at least... *sigh*
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted July 31, 2015 I'm not ready to start shopping for new clothes, yet but am looking forward to it. You might want to consider going to a good department store that has a personal shopper service and let them help you find some nice pieces. The process of working with someone you feel comfortable with might give you an objective perspective on what looks good on you.
