Hi,

I am 9 days post surgery.

I am in a funk and having a hard time getting out of it.

Every time I eat or drink anything I feel it going down my throat and then it feels like it sits in my upper abdomen for a long time..no pain, but its uncomfortable....how long will this last....I am getting some energy back and my incisions already feel 80% healed...

Anyone have any advice?

Yes, take tiny sips. You're probably taking too big of drinks. But the good news is, this will pass once the swelling goes down. I can take gulps now without that feeling (though not too many gulps in a row).

Hang in there, it gets a lot easier.

Same advise here... eat/ drink slower and smaller and walk! Your incisions will have another painful go in about a week... and last a few days once the insides start healing. I'm 1 month out and just starting to feel about 75% back to norm. Fatigue has got me good right now

Three weeks, so hold on. At three weeks, things turn around mentally and physically. For real.

I found that walking after meals and some liquid in taking , really did settle my stomach in the event I drank too much. I will be 7 days out tomorrow.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
