amandastearns 79 Posted July 30, 2015 Today the doctor finally called and scheduled my first appointment to see him and the nutritionist. It's about a week away and I'm so anxious and ready! Although, per the doctors requirements any surgery date won't be for at least six months. Did any else's doctor have a similar requirement? Some people seem to get in so fast and not have much of a wait time.

Anxious2beme 93 Posted July 30, 2015 It is the insurance. You have to ask if they have a non surgical requirement to be supervised by a Dr prior to bariatric surgery.
Radar 204 Posted July 30, 2015 My first appointment is 11 days away. They checked my insurance and said my insurance requires 6 nutritional consultation appointments and I can't do more than one per month so 6 months is probably pretty standard. I also have to complete a psyche evaluation form (already done) and have a call with the psychologist, and lastly, I need to do an endoscopy which I'm told is not very pleasant. I'm hoping they can get the surgery done before the end of the year, because my insurance will be changing before that time.

I'm in a similar situation, my insurance will be changing as well next year. I'm going to make sure to voice all those concerns at my initial appointment in hopes it could speed the process up (doubtful but worth a try).

I had to wait a while for my surgeon to be ready so I was getting anxious but all in all it went well. I rested as soon as I got home today. I am just about done with requirements. I think the 6 mos is good. You get to prepare yourself, slowly. I got a jawbone yesterday and it's tracking everything. I'm so excited about a new life.
