How much weight? How fast?

Recommended Posts

No, I haven't started exercising just yet. My doctor did say wait 3 weeks before I hit the gym, but I feel well enough to walk on the treadmill so I may start tomorrow or Wednesday.

I did hear Protein is what make you lose your weight the fastest. I've been slacking on Protein ????

Hello all,

I'm new here and 2 weeks post op. I was 296 on surgery day and at my first dr. Appt. I was 283. My dr. Told me I would lose about a pound a day. But I'm concerned because I havnt lost anything since. Today is my 2 week surgiversary and I'm still at 283. Is this something I should be concerned about? I am a little anxious that something isn't right or that I'm not doing it right. I'm eating 500 or less calories a day and I started back exercising and working out this week as well. I walked 8 miles just today and I came home this evening and no weight loss.

Also I don't feel full. I'm not really hungry but I just don't feel full like I did the first couple of days. I'm easily drinking the 64 ounces of Fluid because I don't have a problem drinking, swallowing or feeling too full.

I could use any and all advice as I am pretty much on my own. No family or friends that have had surgery. I also don't want to email my dr. Because I want to know if I'm just panicking first! Thank you for reading and hopefully giving advice!

@@Marlymamamar - You may be panicking a bit. Your profile says you have already lost 90 pounds (assuming mostly prior to pre-op). That is a tremendous weight loss! I am assuming this took you a while and know that this is a marathon not a sprint. And you walked 8 miles at 2 weeks post-op? That is amazing! I am 11 weeks post-op and walked 3 miles yesterday and was quite proud of myself for that. Quite impressive that you would walk for what I am assuming is at least 2 1/2 hours straight. Truly you should relax and be proud of your accomplishments thus far.

Now, having said that - if the scale drives you nuts, don't weigh every day and most certainly don't weigh several times a day. Weight doesn't work like that. Weigh in the morning before you eat and take that as your weight for the day. I do remember suddenly being able to drink so much more Fluid and worrying about it and rest assured, everyone confirmed that was normal. You haven't done anything wrong. Your swelling has just reduced making fluids easier. Once you start on soft foods and even more so on dense Protein, you will feel the restriction. Just stick to the program - Protein (ESPECIALLY if you are walking 8 miles a day!) and fluids. You may be entering the 3 week stall a little early. (VERY common occurrence.)

You are doing great. Be proud of yourself!

@@Daisee68 thank you for replying! Yes I think I may be panicking, yes the bulk of my weightloss was post op. I went back and forth for about 8 months on getting the surgery or not but I kept on my new lifestyle and lost as much as I could. I have lost 13 pounds since my surgery which was august 6. I have gotten pretty fit in my journey here so my daily average for walking is about 8 miles. I break it up into 2 times a day. I also walk very fast, about 4 1/2 miles per hour so I can knock a mile out in about 12 minutes. So getting back to my old routine before surgery is also something I'm anxious for.

I appreciate your knowledgable advice and I am going to try to be more patient and happy with where I am now. Weighing in the morning is a good idea too. I have never been so focused on the scale before. I used to only weigh in 1 x per week. Usually on Wednesday or Thursday so I guess I should go back to that! If I somehow don't lose any weight in the next couple of weeks I'll contact my Dr. Thank you so much for taking time to replynand encouraging me!

Yes you are right on that, I could barely walk 1 mile without wanting to stop! Lol! I have made many health related improvements and I actually jogged a full 5 k! Sloth jogging but I did it in 46 minutes. i have a completely different life now and I really love it! I was just hoping to drop a bunch of pounds as a reward for all of my hard work! Thank you @@Daisee68! I'll try to relax a bit and just wait on the magic????

Today am one month out, down 14 KGS (around 30 lbs). Start weight was 121 KG (266 lbs). Am very happy with circa 12% loss of body weight in 1 month, but rate is now slowing down to 1 KG (2-2.5 lbs) per week.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
