This came up in another thread and I've been meaning to post about it. Wasn't really sure where to post it, but here seemed as good as anywhere.

So, I'm pretty skinny now. I had a Tummy Tuck a few years back, but I'm lighter than I was then, plus by the time the swelling from the surgery had gone down, I had packed on more pounds. So this is definitely the skinniest I've been with a flat stomach.

I have visible bloating in my lower abdomen from time-to-time now and it's something I've never had to deal with before. I assume I probably did get bloated when I was fat, but I was so big, it wasn't visible. Now I feel like it's an issue I probably need to address and come up with some remedies for.

Any recommendations?

I have the same problem- I can visibly see bloating now. Usually I wake up in the morning and my tummy-tucked stomach is nicely flat with a little ab definition and by noon there is no more ab definition. I notice especially after the gym when I do an ab workout, I look almost pregnant by the time I go to sleep. When I know I'm going to be wearing a tight dress, where the entire world will be able to see my bloated stomach, I stay away from veggies and fruits for the day (for some reason they make my stomach feel like it's going to pop for hours), I drink a medium amount of Water (too much and I feel like I can see it) and I stick to super small Snacks throughout the day.

I have read that drinking a lot of Water can help to fight bloating symptoms on a consistent basis, and a friend of mine swears by drinking a gallon of water that has been infused with cucumber and lemon. She cuts up the cucumber and lemon and lets it sit in the gallon of water over night, then spends the next day drinking the majority of the water and she claims she feels completely un-bloated by the next morning. Maybe something to try...

I am right there with you at 31 lbs to go. Then I can start seriously thinking about plastics.

I cannot wait!

The bloat issue for me is visible and uncomfortable. Funny this is a little in the scheme of things. Wish it was a matter of gas x to make it go away.

I never heard of this ... does your tummy stick out? At what point (below / above where)?

Below my belly button and above my pubic area, I can visibly see that my belly looks "swollen" when I am bloated and the skin feels stretched tight over that area. It doesn't *hurt*, but it's a little uncomfortable and it makes me feel a little self-conscious. I don't know how visible it is to other people, but I can definitely tell.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
