If you haven't been to a doctor in 5 years it may cause you issues. you need to contact your insurance and see what the factors are regarding approval of Bariatric Surgery. JamieLogical 8,710 Posted July 30, 2015 My suspicion would be that if you haven't been to a PCP in that long, there might be some extra steps for you that will prolong the process. Most insurers seem to require documentation of weight history and weight loss attempts in the past.
