Yrkybarry 40 Posted July 29, 2015 I am 3 months post op and am cold ALL the time. I wear sweatpants and sweatshirts and sleep with an electric blanket, even though it is 80+ degrees. I had my thyroid # checked as I have hypothyroidism and they came back in the normal range. Does/has anyone experienced this and have some insight on it? Kathy812 794 Posted July 29, 2015 Yes, unfortunately it is one of the side effects of the sleeve . I've seen post from people who are years out and they are still experiencing this.
glitter eyes 1,398 Posted July 29, 2015 I had surgery last June and I have just thawed out. LOL. Literally we just took the electric blanket off of our bed in May. It is a side effect for most of us. The good thing is with the weight loss you can rock some cute hoodies.
Yrkybarry 40 Posted July 29, 2015 Interesting. My husband was really worried that I was so cold. I am super comfy in my sweatpants and sweatshirts...so I never really thought about it. Wonder why it is a side effect.
BestDayEver 418 Posted July 29, 2015 I, on the other hand, have frequent hot flashes and sweating buckets lol.
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com 285 Posted July 29, 2015 Now my bestie is very thin - and she is always cold. Maybe this is how thin people are???
imsoglad56 402 Posted July 29, 2015 My husband and I are both like this post-sleeve. We used to keep the air conditioner set at 70 and sleep with no blanket. Now we have the air set at 76 and sleep with an electric blanket. If that's part of being thinner and healthier, I can live with it!
onlybroomegirl 250 Posted July 29, 2015 They say your metabolism changes.
snowkitten 371 Posted July 30, 2015 Oh yes, this was a big thing for me. My pcp said she sees it alot with her WLS patients. Research on the Internet indicates it's because your losing the protective fat your body is so used to. It took about 6 months before I stopped needing to use my heating blanket. But it HAS gotten better
FrankyG 1,450 Posted July 30, 2015 Interesting. My husband was really worried that I was so cold. I am super comfy in my sweatpants and sweatshirts...so I never really thought about it. Wonder why it is a side effect. Hormones and metabolism both change significantly. I was sleeved in December, and spent the winter in layers and under an electric blanket, clutching my cat any time she happened by. It was a very cold time for me! Yrkybarry 40 Posted July 30, 2015 Thank you for the insight. At least I'm not suffering too badly in this heat.
amazon 579 Posted July 30, 2015 it's 90+ and humid outside...I think I'm heading out for a walk. A year ago I would have melted in to a puddle. Now I think it's a great way to defrost! I have more fleece blankets/throws around the house then ever... I'll take that insulation over what I had before! :-)
lmhelmick 79 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm like this now too and only 1 month post. It's the Iron changes in your body... totally normal. Hubby thinks I'm losing it lol. Chewed him out last night for changing the thermastat haha
Yrkybarry 40 Posted July 30, 2015 I told my husband last night I need a stronger electric blanket.
