crayak 0 Posted July 29, 2015 Hi, this is my first post here. I'm still in the stages of speaking to my surgeon/nutritionist/psychologist about whether I can get the surgery and one of the issues that came up was that in the first 3-4 months after surgery, many medications won't be well absorbed. This is an issue because I have depression and anxiety issues and I'm on a few medications for them - one is in a gel capsule that my nutritionist said could be more easily absorbed but the others aren't. So I was wondering if anyone had been through something like this and had any er, advice?? Or experience on the issue or something? I will be talking to a psychiatrist that is more experienced on the issue and my own psych but I thought I should ask to see if someone had possibly had a similar experience... ShrinkingPeach 1,291 Posted July 29, 2015 Absorption of things happens in the intestines. Bypass re-routes those, the sleeve doesn't. That is one of the major reasons I wanted the sleeve. I was sleeved 5-15-15 and have had no issues with absorption of medication or Vitamins. Hope that helps!
S(he) be(lie)ve(d) 151 Posted July 29, 2015 No issues with the sleeve at all. I take time release capsules and they still work the same.
