Vet update from a slow loser

Recommended Posts

Well I am so happy about the changes in me. Even though I have had a ruff time losing the weight I am finally losing it quickly. I once weight 350 lbs and was not happy with myself. Went to a GYN doctor and he told me that I was diabetic. I was able to lose 100 labs. I have struggled with this for a long time going down to 180 lbs and then gaining it back. Now I was 265 when I had my sleeve, with in six month I went down to 204 lbs. Then I gain 16 lbs. This has been a long journey but I am happy I have not given up. Even having a lot of negatives around me I have managed to come out on top. I am Happy to say my goal weight for my body size and shape is 150. I am now 188 lbs.

Good for you for sticking with it and not giving up. I am a slow loser as well. Often I have seen the rapid weight loss that others have had and felt discouraged with my own journey, but it is MY own journey. It doesn't matter if it takes me 3 1/2 years to get to my goal weight. The important thing is that we keep pushing ahead. Keep up the good work!

I am so happy that you guys wrote about this! I will be a year sleeved August 1, 2015. I have been so sad because I have not made my goal! I have lost almost 100 pounds and still have 30 or so to go. I read about people losing so much more weight in a shorter amount of time! I know in my head that I've done okay! In my heart I still feel down! I often feel kind of bipolar. Well I'm not going to give up I'm just going to Celebrate like heck when I reach goal! I've been on medication that made me gain weight and I've had to stop working out several times due to other health conditions! I just want the rest of this weight off now. I will keep working on it. Keep it moving everyone!

LadyK44 I am glad that I wrote this because three years out and still have not reach my goal is the point I need to make. The surgery is the best thing I ever did and I encourage all to do it once they have tried everything I WA then all to see that it is not easy for everyone and that some times it is going to take longer than you think. But I stuck with it. I know I will be there soon and it will be the best for me. Because I did this for me. Just stick with it you will get there too.

What a great affirmation! Congratulations on all your success and staying positive. Staying positive is always the hardest part. I am two years sleeved and have not hit goal. Hovered 12 lbs away but that's as close as I have gotten. I am not giving up either!Thank you for sharing. ????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
