I am 3 weeks post op and have been @ a stall for 2 weeks. I know stalls happen and I am trying to stay positive but i am finding it hard to. I mean why did I even go through this whole ordeal if I am not seeing a decrease in weight or measurements. I am following my plans and have not cheated. I don't know what else to do. Uugghhhhh. I need help.

I lost 30 lbs 4 weeks out and now I've been at a stall for weeks and I'm frustrated too. It seems like ever since I got off liquids my weight loss stopped, but I'm trying to stay positive.

I stalled 1 week out for almost a month, then lost a couple pounds and then have stopped again. It's frustrating but it's not time yet to ask why did I do this. If you're not losing say in 4 or 5 months, THEN I'd say that's a valid question. Hang in there - we all know it's normal, even if it's

Totally frustrating.

Stalls are common. While in the hospital, it is normal to gain some weight because they fill your body with fluids so by the time you leave the hospital you weigh several pounds more than when you went in. During the first couple weeks your body is in a heal mode.

Around half way through my weight loss I hit a stall. I realized that my meal volume was increasing and that I was deriving more Protein from my food and I didn't need as much Protein shakes and the calories that went with the Protein Shakes. So I dropped off one of the shakes and my weight loss picked up again.

Hello there,

My first week post op I lost 20lbs due to medication and I couldn't eat anything, after that first week I did not lose weight for weeks and then a month later I dropped 10lbs some weeks I won't lose and others I lose lots, I hate the scale and always have I weigh myself every other week now and sometimes I skip it if I don't feel I lost weight but I just keep taking my Vitamins and making my Protein shakes to keep healthy. Hang in there all our bodies are different and we just need to find out what works for us. :)

I lost 20 in the first week. Probably a big part of it was Water weight from the surgery.

Not a single pound since. I'm 4 weeks today and have been in a 3 week stall. How can I possibly not be losing?

Tomorrow is my 1 month check up. Maybe she can tell me what's going on.

And yes. So frustrating.

I stalled weeks 2 and 3 but then had a big drop week 4. I think your body has to re-calibrate once in awhile, esp. after a big drop in weight (like you folks who lost 20 lbs the first week! That's a lot!!)

Sounds like stalling or plateauing is pretty common. I am 3 weeks post op. Ive lost 20 lbs but this past week I've stopped losing. I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard sometimes. I've been having more cravings than normal. I'm on pureed meals...stage 2

My 3-4 week stall ended but the pounds have come off slowly since then. 1-2 per week. I know that's healthy but my surgeon said weight would come off drastically after a stall. I know slow weightloss is beneficial in some ways, but I can't say it's comforting!

I had a long stall from week 3 til week 6 or 7. Your body just has to catch up with what you are trying to accomplish. Keep following the Protein and Water rules and the stall will break. Since my stall I am losing 1-3 lbs a week which seems slow but time will go so fast!! I take a monthly pic to keep myself motivated!

I went for my two week post op appt on the 27th of July. I had lost 35 lbs between my pre op diet and two week after RNY. The Dr. said weekend 3-4 would be a plateau because your body hasn't been use to the fats/carbs you are introducing ( for me I started soft/mushy at 2 weeks) It's been true for me. I've been on a stall this week and last. She says once I start solid foods next week and get more solid Protein the weight loss will start again. It's definitely disheartening but all we can do is move forward and follow Drs orders. Good luck to all!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
